Laura Summerville is the Legal Practice Director and co-founder of Elysian Law, bringing over 15 years of experience in the legal field to every matter she handles. Admitted to practice in Queensland in 2019, Laura's legal career is underpinned by more than a decade of hands-on experience working within the Queensland Courts across domestic and family violence, child protection, youth justice, and adult crime — giving her an unmatched understanding of court processes, access to justice, and advocacy that most lawyers simply don't have.

Prior to admission, Laura was also an accredited mediator, with significant experience conducting commercial settlement conferences, conciliation conferences, and mediations. She began her formal legal career in commercial litigation, working both in-house and at a national firm before returning to her passion — domestic and family violence law — through criminal defence and family law.

Laura has a particular focus on representing clients in all areas of domestic and family violence, including protection order applications for both aggrieved and respondent parties, criminal proceedings, and Family Law matters involving complex family violence issues. In the Family Law space, Laura has experience in assisting clients in parenting and financial settlements involving serious allegations of domestic violence, including complex parenting matters involving high conflict arrangements and relocation applications.

As a criminal defence lawyer, Laura is committed to ensuring fair process and access to justice. She has represented clients facing serious criminal charges related to domestic violence and supported victims of crime in navigating police processes and the criminal justice system.

Laura is empathetic and pragmatic, and understands that in hard times, legal costs place extra stress on people. She strongly believes that legal representation should be accessible and transparent — a founding principle behind Elysian Law's fixed fee structure and payment plans.
